What does it mean?

  • Systematic: Students learn step-by-step along a research-based scope and sequence.

  • Multi-sensory: Using sight, hearing, movement, and touch gives kids more than one way to connect with what they are learning.

  • Individualized: The content of any lesson will depend on what students already know, so I can move them along rapidly.

  • Learning: Students will read, spell, and write with increasing accuracy and fluency.

  • Explicit: Lessons are crystal clear with plenty of modeling, feedback, and practice so students know exactly how to succeed.

  • Structured Literacy: Intervention for dyslexia must be targeted on the foundational skills required for good word recognition, including phonological awareness, phonics, and rapid recognition/decoding of familiar words.
